It’s a sad statement on the modern GOP: the party’s racism is so deeply entrenched, so endlessly sprawling, that even artificial intelligence buckles under the task of cataloging it all.
I always look forward to your opinion. As a PR woman who was born and raised in Brooklyn (as were my parents), the lack of solidarity within the Latino community still breaks my heart. I live on LI now for the past 20 years, and the racism I’ve felt here is as bad as when I was growing up. I still get asked where I am from, and I find that other Latinos I meet, many whom are new to the U.S., believe that if they shun other Latinos it will create the proximity to American whiteness and acceptance they desire. My own father has subscribed to this as he went all in for Trump in 2016 and still supports him. I have never, and would never, support anyone who denigrates any human being, but especially POC. My white neighbors don’t understand why I have been enraged since 2015/2016. Their words to me after Trump’s emergence on the presidential scene were “You’re not Mexican, why do you care?” Today it’s “Well, they weren’t talking about YOU at the rally.” This says it all. Thanks for your always valuable and keen assessment. Much appreciated.
